When is the best time for children to have their teeth corrected

Release Time:2023-05-20 21:15:26      Hit Count:541

The optimal age for orthodontic treatment in children is generally around twelve or three years old. Dental deformities can be divided into dental deformities, functional deformities, skeletal deformities, anterior crossbite, etc. The optimal timing for correction varies depending on the type of deformity.

According to the type of deformity, the optimal age for children's dental correction is as follows:

1. Tooth malformation: The optimal time for correcting dental deformities is at the age of twelve or thirteen, which is the early stage of permanent dentition. This is when children have just changed their teeth and are in a period of vigorous growth and development, which is the best time for tooth correction.

2. Functional deformities: The correction time for functional deformities is between 6 and 12 years old. Due to the fact that functional deformities often occur during this period, which is the mixed dentition period, if the correction is delayed, it may develop into skeletal deformities.

3. Bone deformities: The correction time for tooth deformities caused by bone deformities should be in the early stages of children's growth and development peak, that is, girls aged 10-12 and boys aged 11-13.

4. Anterior crossbite bite: commonly known as "ground to sky", it has a serious impact on the development of children's jawbones. Once it occurs, it should be corrected immediately, and the earliest correction can start around the age of 3 and a half. Usually, it only takes 3-6 months to cure.

If a child's tooth deformity is found, they can first go to the hospital for a face-to-face consultation and examination to determine the degree and specific type of tooth deformity, and then follow the doctor's advice to choose the best correction time.
